Definitions

 
 

A fracture-dislocation of the base of the first metacarpal bone that involves the carpometacarpal joint.

A fracture of the lower fibula complicated by a dislocation of the ankle joint.

An incomplete fracture, usually seen in children, in which only the convex side of the cortex is broken with bending of the bone. Also called willow fracture, hickory stick fracture, bending fracture, bent fracture.

Comminuted fracture of the distal tibia, intra-articular. Also called Pilon fracture.

A fracture that results from repetitive strong forces in the shafts of weight-bearing long bones adjacent to muscle attachments, such as the tibia or fibula. It is often seen in runners or ballet dancers. Also called March fracture, Deutschlander's disease.
